The ELKHART PRODUCTS FR-1X12 is a copper fitting reducer designed to transition between 1-inch and 1/2-inch pipe sizes in solder-type copper plumbing systems. It features a FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) connection, allowing one end to accept a copper fitting and the other to receive standard copper tubing. Part of the KLEENFIT product line, this reducer arrives cleaned and bagged, reducing prep time on the job. At 0.095 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for residential and light commercial plumbing rough-in and repair work. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This fitting is used wherever a plumbing system requires a reduction from 1-inch copper main to a 1/2-inch copper branch or supply line. Typical applications include domestic water distribution systems, hydronic heating branch lines, and general copper pipework requiring a concentric size reduction. The KLEENFIT cleaning and bagging process meets requirements for systems where cleanliness is critical prior to soldering.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch x 1/2-inch copper solder-joint plumbing systems using FTG x C connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the water supply and drain the line before cutting or sweating any fittings. Clean mating surfaces and apply lead-free flux before soldering; do not overheat the fitting, as excessive heat can damage the joint. Inspect the completed joint for leaks after restoring system pressure.
