The ELKHART PRODUCTS COU-34X12 is a copper reducer coupling with stop, designed to transition between 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch copper tubing in soldered plumbing systems. It connects using a standard C x C (copper-to-copper) sweat configuration, making it a direct, reliable choice for reducing line size in residential and light commercial water supply runs. Part of the KLEENFIT product line, this fitting is cleaned and bagged to meet contamination-control requirements, reducing prep time on the job. The built-in stop ensures consistent insertion depth for repeatable solder joints. At 0.061 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for tight spaces in wall cavities, mechanical rooms, and under-slab applications.
This reducer coupling is used wherever a plumbing run transitions from 3/4-inch main supply line down to 1/2-inch branch or fixture feed lines. Common installation scenarios include residential water distribution systems, in-wall rough-in work, and repipe projects. The KLEENFIT cleaning and bagging process makes this fitting ready for flux and solder without additional surface prep. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on potable water, hydronic heating, and general copper piping systems will find this fitting suitable for standard sweat-solder assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for copper sweat plumbing systems using 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch C x C reducer connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and fully drain the line before cutting and fitting. Clean the pipe ends and apply appropriate flux before soldering; even with KLEENFIT preparation, pipe ends from the field cut must be deburred and cleaned. Avoid overheating the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can damage the copper and compromise the joint.
