The ELKHART PRODUCTS COU-14X18 is a wrot copper reducer coupling with an integrated stop, designed to join two copper tube lines of different diameters using a standard solder (sweat) connection. This fitting transitions from 1/4-inch to 1/8-inch copper tubing and is built to the dimensional consistency expected of wrot copper fittings. The internal stop ensures accurate tube seating depth during assembly, improving joint reliability and reducing rework. It is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians in refrigeration, plumbing, and gas-distribution piping systems where a compact, pressure-rated transition fitting is required.
This reducer coupling is suited for residential and light commercial applications where copper sweat fittings are specified. Typical uses include low-volume refrigerant line transitions, instrument tubing, and small-diameter plumbing branch connections. The C x C (cup by cup) end configuration accepts standard copper tube on both ends and is compatible with lead-free solder and appropriate flux per current plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for small-diameter copper tube systems using C x C solder joints in plumbing and HVAC applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the line before cutting or fitting. Clean tube ends and fitting cups thoroughly, apply an appropriate flux, and solder with a lead-free alloy where required by code. Avoid overheating the fitting, as excessive heat can damage the internal stop and compromise joint integrity.
