The ELKHART PRODUCTS 1 1/2"X1 1 is a wrot copper reducing fitting designed to transition a 1-1/2 inch pipe line down to a 1-1/4 inch line using a FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) solder connection. Wrot copper fittings are manufactured from wrought copper, which produces a denser grain structure and tighter dimensional tolerances compared to cast fittings. This reducer is a standard solder-type fitting installed by licensed plumbers in potable water supply, hydronic heating, and general plumbing distribution systems wherever a pipe size reduction is required at a joint.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where copper tubing is the specified pipe material. The FTG x C configuration means one end accepts a copper tube or fitting spigot (fitting-to-fitting connection) and the other end accepts standard copper tubing, giving installers flexibility at transition points in a run. It is appropriate for use in supply lines, branch takeoffs, and retrofit projects where existing piping must be reduced to a smaller diameter downstream.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation copper reducing fitting for residential and light commercial copper plumbing systems using 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch solder-joint connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local authority requirements. Shut off the water supply and fully drain the affected line before cutting or joining any copper pipe. Clean both the tube end and fitting socket with emery cloth and apply lead-free flux before soldering. Avoid overheating the fitting during the solder process, as excessive heat can cause flux burnout and result in a void in the joint.
