The ELKHART PRODUCTS CAP-1 is a 1-inch copper solder-type tube cap designed to permanently close the end of a copper tube or fitting. Part of the Kleenfit product line, this cap arrives cleaned and bagged for immediate use, reducing prep time on the job. It accepts standard 1-inch copper tubing and is joined using conventional sweat-solder technique. At 0.059 pounds, it is lightweight and easy to handle during rough-in or service work. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians use end caps like this to pressure-test systems, cap off unused branches, or close lines during staged construction.
This cap is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC copper piping systems. Typical applications include capping supply or return lines during pressure tests, sealing decommissioned branch lines, and closing off tube ends during phased installations. The Kleenfit cleaning and bagging process keeps the fitting flux-ready, which is particularly useful in tight spaces where field cleaning is difficult.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit cap for 1-inch copper tube systems following ASTM and ASME B16.22 sweat-fitting dimensions common in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC piping.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician familiar with copper sweat-soldering procedures. Shut off and depressurize the system and purge any residual water or refrigerant from the line before soldering. Apply flux to the tube end, seat the cap fully, and heat evenly with a torch before introducing solder — do not apply solder to the flame side of the joint. Follow all applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC or IPC requirements for pressure testing after the joint cools.
