The ELKHART PRODUCTS B029750 is a 1/2-inch copper female adapter fitting designed to transition between a sweat (solder) connection and a female pipe thread end. This type of fitting is a standard component in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, allowing copper tubing runs to terminate at a threaded female port. Licensed plumbers and experienced pipefitters install this fitting where a copper line must connect to a male-threaded valve, fixture supply, or pipe assembly. The 703-5B series designation identifies it within the Elkhart Products wrought copper fitting line, built to common industry dimensions for pressure copper tube systems.
This female adapter is suited for potable water supply lines, hydronic heating circuits, and general-purpose copper plumbing installations. It accepts a 1/2-inch copper tube on the sweat end, which is soldered in place using standard plumbing torch and flux procedures. The female threaded end receives a 1/2-inch male pipe thread (MPT) fitting, valve, or nipple. This fitting is appropriate for both new construction rough-in work and repair or retrofit applications where a threaded transition point is needed within a copper system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting compatible with 1/2-inch copper tube systems following ASTM B88 Type K, L, or M tubing dimensions.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local plumbing authority requirements. Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Clean and flux all mating copper surfaces thoroughly before applying heat, and use lead-free solder compliant with NSF/ANSI 61 for potable water applications. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before assembling the threaded connection.
