The ELKHART PRODUCTS 9078650 is a 90-degree long radius copper elbow designed for sweat (CxC) connections in residential and commercial plumbing systems. This reducing fitting transitions from a 1-1/4 inch inlet to a 1 inch outlet, accommodating directional changes in copper pipe runs where a long-sweep bend is required to minimize flow restriction and pressure drop. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting using standard soldering practices. The long-radius geometry reduces turbulence compared to short-radius elbows, making it suitable for systems where flow efficiency matters.
This elbow is used in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution piping, and general-purpose copper plumbing installations. It is appropriate for both above-ground and in-wall applications where a 90-degree change in pipe direction is needed alongside a reduction in pipe diameter. The CxC (copper by copper) sweat ends are compatible with standard copper tubing following conventional soldering procedures.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation copper sweat fitting for 1-1/4 inch by 1 inch copper pipe systems in residential and commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and fully drain the affected line before cutting and fitting. Clean all pipe ends and fitting cups thoroughly with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering. Avoid overheating the fitting, as excessive heat can damage the joint or cause flux to burn off before the solder flows properly.
