The ELKHART PRODUCTS 45ELL-58 is a wrot copper 45-degree elbow fitting designed for sweat-solder copper pipe connections in plumbing and HVAC piping systems. Sized for 5/8-inch tube (3/4-inch OD), it uses a standard C x C (copper-to-copper) solder connection on both ends. At 0.056 pounds, this lightweight fitting suits tight spaces and high-volume rough-in work alike. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting wherever a 45-degree change of direction is needed in a copper water, refrigerant, or hydronic line.
This elbow is suited for residential and light commercial copper piping installations including domestic water supply, hydronic heating loops, and refrigerant line sets that accept sweat fittings. The wrot (wrought) copper construction meets standard pressure ratings for typical water service and HVAC applications. It is installed using a torch and lead-free solder per applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 5/8-inch copper tube sweat-solder piping systems.
Installation requires a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in jurisdictions that enforce plumbing codes such as the IPC or UPC. Shut off and drain the water supply or depressurize the line before cutting and sweating fittings. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering; use only lead-free solder for potable water applications as required by code. Do not apply heat to a fitting that has not been properly cleaned and fluxed, as this can result in a void in the joint.
