The ELKHART PRODUCTS 3" X 2" CO is a wrot copper fitting reducer designed to transition between 3-inch and 2-inch copper pipe in pressurized plumbing systems. Manufactured from wrot copper, this reducer connects using a FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) solder configuration, making it a standard choice for sweat-soldered installations. At 0.948 pounds, the fitting is a compact, solid-copper component suited for commercial and residential potable water, HVAC hydronic, and general plumbing piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters specify wrot copper fittings where dimensional consistency and pressure integrity are required.
This reducer is used in applications where a main line or branch run must step down from a 3-inch copper line to a 2-inch copper line. Typical install scenarios include mechanical room distribution headers, riser transitions, and zone supply reductions in both residential and light commercial plumbing systems. The FTG x C end configuration allows one end to receive a copper pipe or tube directly into the fitting socket while the other end slips into an adjacent fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style wrot copper reducer for use with standard 3-inch and 2-inch copper tube and pipe in sweat-solder plumbing assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the supply line and drain the pipe section before cutting and fitting. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply appropriate flux before soldering. Avoid overheating the fitting body, as excessive heat can compromise the copper and the solder joint integrity.
