The ELKHART PRODUCTS 2 1/2' X 2 is a wrot copper reducing fitting designed to transition pipe flow from a 2.5-inch line down to a 2-inch line within a pressurized copper plumbing system. It connects using a FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) solder joint configuration, making it compatible with standard sweat-soldering installation methods. Fabricated from wrot copper, this reducer delivers the material integrity and dimensional consistency that licensed plumbers expect on potable water, hydronic, and mechanical piping systems. It is part of the Elkhart Products Model 118 product line and is suited for both new construction and retrofit applications.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a reduction from 2.5-inch to 2-inch copper pipe is required. Common applications include supply trunk line reductions, mechanical room piping transitions, and hydronic heating distribution headers. The FTG x C end configuration allows one end to receive a copper pipe or fitting spigot while the other end accepts standard copper tube, giving installers flexibility in tight plumbing assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style wrot copper reducer for use with standard 2.5-inch and 2-inch copper tube and fittings in solder-joint plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the supply line and drain standing water from the pipe before cutting or soldering. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux before making the solder joint. Avoid overheating the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can compromise the integrity of adjacent joints or fittings.
