The ELKHART PRODUCTS 2 1/2 X 1 is a wrot copper reducer coupling with stop, designed for sweat-solder connections in residential and commercial plumbing systems. It transitions from a 2.5-inch nominal pipe to a 1.5-inch nominal pipe in a single fitting, using a C x C (copper-to-copper) solder-joint configuration. The internal stop ensures proper pipe seating depth, which is critical for consistent, leak-free joints. Made from wrot copper, this fitting meets the material and dimensional standards expected in pressure-rated water distribution piping. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This reducer coupling is suited for potable water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution, and general copper pressure piping where a concentric reduction is needed. It is appropriate for both new construction rough-in and retrofit work where pipe sizes change between zones or branch lines. The wrot construction makes it appropriate for applications requiring tight dimensional tolerances and high joint integrity under sustained pressure and temperature cycling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fitting for copper pressure piping systems using sweat-solder C x C joints per ASTM and ASME B16.22 wrot copper fitting standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable edition of the IPC or local plumbing code. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and drain the line before cutting or soldering. Clean both pipe ends and fitting sockets with emery cloth and apply flux before sweating; do not use open flame near combustible materials without a heat shield. Allow the joint to cool completely before restoring pressure to the system.
