The ELKHART PRODUCTS 10159242 is a lead-free reducing 90-degree drop ear elbow designed for copper sweat-to-female-iron-pipe connections in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. Sized at 3/4 inch copper inlet by 1/2 inch female iron pipe (FIP) outlet, this fitting allows a pipe run to change direction while simultaneously reducing line size and providing a threaded mounting ear. Cast from international-grade brass and built to lead-free standards, it suits potable water applications where code compliance on lead content is required. Plumbers use this fitting where a shower arm, tub spout, or wall-mounted supply stub-out must be anchored to framing.
This elbow is suited for new construction and retrofit plumbing projects where a copper supply line transitions to a female-threaded outlet at a wall. The drop ear design allows the body to be screwed to a backing plate or stud, securing the fitting in place before drywall is installed. Typical applications include bathroom and kitchen rough-in work. The CxF connection type means the 3/4 inch side accepts a standard copper tube soldered joint, while the 1/2 inch side accepts a male-threaded iron pipe or brass adapter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting compatible with 3/4 inch copper tube and 1/2 inch female iron pipe threaded connections in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before soldering. The copper sweat side requires proper flux application, clean tubing, and a propane or MAPP torch for a sound solder joint. Secure the drop ear to solid backing before closing the wall to prevent movement under supply pressure.
