The ELKHART PRODUCTS 10056900 is a lead-free female reducing adapter designed for copper sweat-to-female iron pipe thread transitions in residential and commercial plumbing systems. Cast from lead-free brass to meet current federal and state lead-free requirements, this Model 4703R adapter accepts a 1-1/2 inch copper socket (C) on one end and a 1 inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) on the other. At 0.483 pounds and measuring 1.83 inches by 2.38 inches by 1.83 inches, it is a compact fitting suited for tight rough-in conditions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during new construction and retrofit work where copper supply lines transition to threaded connections.
This adapter is used in potable water supply systems where a diameter reduction is required alongside a sweat-to-threaded transition. The CxF configuration makes it appropriate for connecting copper mainlines or branch lines to threaded valve bodies, fixture supply valves, water heaters, and similar threaded equipment. Its cast brass construction handles the pressure and temperature demands typical of domestic hot and cold water distribution. The 1-1/2 inch by 1 inch size covers a common reducing transition in residential and light commercial plumbing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for copper sweat-to-female threaded reducing connections in residential and light commercial potable water plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the water supply and drain the line before cutting or sweating any fittings. Clean and flux copper pipe ends properly before soldering, and apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the female iron pipe threads before making up the threaded connection. Do not overtighten the threaded joint, as cast brass fittings can crack under excessive torque.
