The ELKHART PRODUCTS 1003326 is a wrot copper reducing tee designed for solder-joint (sweat) copper piping systems. It provides a 4-inch run with a 1-1/2-inch branch outlet, allowing a smaller branch line to be tapped from a larger main. All three connections are C x C x C (copper solder cup), meaning each end accepts a copper tube for a sweat-soldered joint. At just under 5 pounds, this is a substantial fitting built from wrought copper for consistent wall thickness and reliable joint integrity. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in commercial and residential hydronic, domestic water, and process piping applications.
This reducing tee is appropriate for installations where a 4-inch copper main requires a reduced 1-1/2-inch branch takeoff. Common applications include large-diameter domestic hot and cold water distribution, commercial hydronic heating and cooling mains, and industrial process piping where a smaller branch circuit must be fed from a primary trunk line. The wrot construction is the standard choice for pressure-rated sweat assemblies in both above-ground and accessible underground configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style wrot copper solder fitting for use with 4-inch and 1-1/2-inch copper tube in pressure-rated sweat piping assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including IPC and local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water system and fully drain the affected piping before cutting or sweating any joints — residual moisture will prevent a sound solder connection. Clean all tube ends and fitting cups with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering. Allow all joints to cool completely before restoring system pressure.
