The ELKHART PRODUCTS 1 X 1/2 CO is a wrot copper fitting reducer designed to transition a 1-inch line down to a 1/2-inch line in a soldered copper piping system. Manufactured under Elkhart Products Model 118, this fitting uses a FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) connection on a sweat-solder joint. The wrot copper construction provides reliable pressure ratings and a clean, consistent solder joint. It weighs 0.095 pounds and measures 1.13 inches by 1.78 inches by 1.13 inches. Plumbers and pipefitters use this reducer when reducing supply line diameter within domestic water, HVAC hydronic, or mechanical piping systems.
This fitting reducer is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic heating applications where a branch line or fixture supply must step down from a 1-inch main to a 1/2-inch run. The FTG end accepts standard copper tubing sized for sweat connection, while the C end connects directly to nominal copper tube. Installation requires standard soldering tools and flux appropriate for potable water or hydronic service, depending on the application.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard nominal copper tube in residential and commercial soldered piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber using standard sweat-soldering tools including a torch, flux, and lead-free solder compliant with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Clean and flux both the FTG socket and the copper tube end before applying heat to ensure a complete, leak-free joint. Allow the joint to cool fully before restoring system pressure.
