The ELKHART PRODUCTS 1 1/2 X 3/ is a wrot copper reducing tee designed for sweat-solder copper piping systems. It connects a 1-1/2 inch run with a 3/4 inch outlet and a 1/2 inch branch, allowing plumbers to reduce flow paths cleanly within a single fitting. The C x C x C configuration means all three ports accept standard copper tubing and are joined using solder, following conventional sweat-fitting technique. Weighing 0.460 pounds, this fitting is well-suited for residential and light commercial plumbing rough-in and repair work where reliable, leak-free branch connections are required.
This reducing tee is used in copper water distribution systems where the main line and branch lines differ in size. Typical applications include domestic hot and cold water supply lines, hydronic heating branch takeoffs, and general plumbing rough-in where flow must be directed from a larger run pipe to smaller distribution lines. The wrot copper construction makes it appropriate for above-ground, in-wall, and accessible chase installations handled by licensed plumbers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard copper sweat-solder plumbing systems using 1-1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, and 1/2 inch copper tubing conforming to ASTM standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local adopted code. Shut off and drain the water supply completely before cutting into an existing line. All mating copper tubing ends must be deburred, cleaned with emery cloth, and fluxed before soldering to ensure a sound joint. Avoid applying excessive heat to the fitting body during soldering, as overheating wrot copper fittings can compromise joint integrity.
