The ELECTRO HARDWARE EWN-632-1 is a round head steel weld nut designed for permanent attachment to sheet metal panels and fabricated assemblies. It features a 6-32 UNC thread and a three-projection base that positions the nut precisely before welding. The body diameter measures 0.34 inches with a pilot height of 0.093 inches. An oil finish protects the steel during storage and eases handling. This fastener is installed by welders and fabricators working in HVAC cabinet manufacturing, electrical enclosure production, and general sheet metal assembly.
The EWN-632-1 suits applications where a captive threaded insert is required on thin steel panels. The minimum panel thickness for proper projection welding is 0.06 inches, making it appropriate for light-gauge sheet metal work. The pilot hole diameter of 0.193 inches allows the pilot to register in a pre-punched hole, keeping the nut aligned during the weld cycle. It is commonly used in control panel fabrication, equipment housings, and similar assemblies where access to the back side of the panel is limited after final assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style weld nut for light-gauge steel panel assemblies requiring a 6-32 threaded insert with a three-projection round head base. Verify pilot hole diameter and panel thickness against application requirements before installation.
Weld nuts are installed by a resistance spot or projection welder before final panel assembly. Power down all equipment and ensure the work area is clear of flammable materials before welding. Pre-punch the panel to 0.193 inches to accept the pilot, then position the nut so all three projections contact the panel surface evenly. Do not attempt to install weld nuts with standard hand tools or in panels thinner than the 0.06 inch minimum.
