The ECM INDUSTRIES LLC PS-550 is a 1/2 inch plastic staple designed to secure non-metallic (NM) and underground feeder (UF) electrical cables to framing and structural surfaces. Each bag contains 500 staples, making it a practical bulk supply for residential wiring projects. The PS-550 fits 14/2 and 12/2 cable sizes, covering the most common branch-circuit conductors used in standard residential installations. Electricians rely on this type of staple to maintain NEC-required cable support intervals along studs, joists, and other framing members. The plastic construction resists corrosion and will not damage cable jacket insulation during installation.
This staple is suited for residential electrical rough-in work where 14/2 or 12/2 NM or UF cable must be fastened to wood framing, sheathing, or similar substrates. The 500-count bag format supports larger projects or contractors who want to minimize restocking. UF cable applications include runs through walls, into crawl spaces, or in damp locations where non-metallic sheathed cable is permitted by local code. The PS-550 is packaged individually in bags, and each package quantity is 10 bags per case.
Designed for use with 14/2 and 12/2 non-metallic (NM) and underground feeder (UF) cable in residential electrical installations.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians during electrical rough-in. NEC Article 334 governs NM cable support requirements, including staple spacing intervals along framing members. Power down the relevant circuit or confirm the branch is de-energized before securing cables near existing wiring. Drive staples by hand or with a hammer to avoid over-driving, which can damage the cable jacket or conductors beneath.
