The ECM INDUSTRIES LLC OX-400N is a 4 oz anti-oxidant compound designed to protect and improve aluminum and copper electrical connections. Known as Ox-Guard, this compound penetrates aluminum oxide layers to maintain inter-strand and inter-conductor current paths, reducing resistance and producing cooler connections. It is applied at wire terminations, conduit joints, and connector points where oxidation buildup would otherwise degrade electrical performance over time. Licensed electricians rely on this compound as a standard step when terminating aluminum conductors to prevent long-term connection failures.
Ox-Guard is suited for residential and commercial electrical work wherever aluminum wiring or aluminum conduit is involved. Common applications include aluminum-to-aluminum wire connector installations, aluminum-to-copper wire connector terminations, and aluminum conduit joint assembly. Any installation where dissimilar metals meet or where aluminum conductors are torqued into lugs or terminals benefits from a coating of this compound. It is especially relevant in service entrance work, panel connections, and large feeder runs that rely on aluminum conductors.
Designed for use on aluminum-to-aluminum wire connectors, aluminum-to-copper wire connectors, and aluminum conduit joints in electrical installations.
Apply this compound during connection assembly before torquing lugs, connectors, or fittings. Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before working on any termination point. Electricians should follow NEC requirements for aluminum conductor terminations, including using connectors and terminals rated for aluminum conductors. Do not substitute this compound for proper mechanical connection torque specifications listed on equipment nameplates.
