The ECM INDUSTRIES LLC 20-1210 is a yellow tap splice connector designed for making secure branch connections on 12-10 AWG wire without stripping the insulation. The insulation-displacement design clamps through the existing wire jacket, creating a reliable electrical tap at the connection point. Rated at 300 volts maximum, the connector carries a temperature rating of 221 degrees F (105 degrees C), making it suitable for use in environments with elevated ambient temperatures. Each clamshell package contains 3 connectors. Licensed electricians and HVAC technicians reach for this style of connector when tapping into existing branch circuits or low-voltage control wiring runs where stripping is impractical or not preferred.
The 20-1210 tap splice is well suited for residential and light commercial electrical, HVAC control wiring, and general trade applications where a fast, tool-assisted branch connection is needed on 12 or 10 AWG conductors. The yellow color coding provides a quick visual reference for the compatible wire gauge range at a glance during installation. This connector sees common use in furnace control circuit work, thermostat wire tapping, and appliance branch wiring.
Designed for use with 12-10 AWG insulated copper conductors in residential and light commercial electrical and HVAC control wiring applications.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed electrician or HVAC technician. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making any connections, per NEC lockout/tagout requirements. A dedicated tap splice installation tool or lineman's pliers is recommended to seat the connector fully and ensure the insulation-displacement contacts pierce both wires completely. Verify the finished connection is secure and that no bare conductor is exposed at the tap point before re-energizing the circuit.
