The EATON LPJ-3-1/2SP is a Class J time delay fuse rated at 3.5 amps and 600 volts. Class J fuses are current-limiting, meaning they interrupt fault currents rapidly to protect downstream equipment from damage. The time delay characteristic allows the fuse to ride through brief, harmless inrush currents — common during motor starts and transformer energizing — without nuisance opening. This fuse is installed by licensed electricians in industrial, commercial, and HVAC power distribution applications where equipment protection and NEC compliance are required.
Class J time delay fuses like the LPJ-3-1/2SP are used in motor branch circuits, control panels, disconnect switches, and combination starters where current-limiting overcurrent protection is specified. The 600-volt rating makes this fuse suitable for use in both 120-volt and 480-volt single-phase and three-phase systems commonly found in light commercial and industrial facilities. HVAC technicians also specify Class J fuses in equipment disconnect applications where the equipment nameplate calls for a time delay fuse of this ampere class.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement Class J time delay fuse for use in any UL-listed Class J fuse holder or fusible disconnect rated for 600 volts and the appropriate ampere range.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing fuses. Use a properly rated fuse puller when handling Class J fuses in energized equipment — never use pliers or uninsulated tools. Verify the replacement fuse ampere rating and voltage rating match the equipment nameplate before installation.
