The EATON FH80 is a thermal overload heater element designed for use with Type A and Type B overload relays in motor control applications. These heater elements sense excess current draw by generating heat proportional to load current, causing the overload relay to trip and protect the connected motor from damage due to sustained overload or locked-rotor conditions. The FH80 is a compact, low-profile component typically installed by licensed electricians or industrial maintenance technicians during motor starter assembly or field service.
The FH80 heater element is suited for use in motor control centers, combination starters, and individual motor starter assemblies found in commercial and light industrial environments. It is installed inside compatible Type A and Type B overload relay blocks mounted to motor starters and contactors. Applications include HVAC fan motors, pump motors, compressor circuits, and other three-phase or single-phase motor loads requiring overload protection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement heater element for EATON Type A and Type B thermal overload relays used in motor starter and contactor assemblies.
Installation of thermal overload heater elements should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the motor starter and all associated circuits before removing or installing heater elements. Verify that the heater element amperage rating matches the full-load amperage of the motor being protected before placing the equipment back in service. Do not power the circuit until the overload relay cover is properly secured.
