The EATON FH40 is a thermal overload relay heater element designed for use with Type A and Type B overload relays in motor control applications. This heater element generates a calibrated thermal response proportional to motor current draw, allowing the overload relay to trip and protect the motor from sustained overcurrent conditions. It is a direct OEM-style replacement component installed by licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians during motor starter servicing or overload relay calibration work.
The FH40 is suited for residential and light commercial motor control panels, as well as industrial motor starters where EATON Type A and Type B overload relays are in service. It is commonly installed in combination motor starters and manual motor controllers to provide thermal overload protection matched to specific motor full-load amperage ratings. Technicians select heater elements based on motor nameplate FLA and the relay manufacturer sizing chart.
Designed for use with EATON Type A and Type B overload relays. Select the correct heater element number using the EATON overload heater selection table matched to motor full-load amperage and relay model.
Heater element replacement should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NEC guidelines. De-energize and lock out the motor control panel before removing or installing any overload relay components. Verify the correct heater element number against the motor nameplate FLA and the manufacturer sizing chart before installation. Do not reuse damaged or discolored heater elements.
