The EATON FH09 is a thermal overload relay heater element designed for use with Type A and Type B overload relays in motor control applications. Heater elements like the FH09 generate heat proportional to motor current, causing the relay to trip and protect the motor from sustained overcurrent conditions. The FH09 measures 2.1 inches long by 1.3 inches wide by 0.8 inches tall and weighs 0.03 pounds, making it a compact, direct-replacement component. Licensed electricians and motor control technicians typically install this element during overload relay sizing or replacement service.
The FH09 heater element is used in industrial and commercial motor control centers, combination starters, and enclosed starters wherever EATON Type A or Type B overload relays are specified. Proper heater selection is based on motor full-load amperage and service factor, so verify the motor nameplate data before specifying this element. It is suited for both new installations and field replacement of worn or incorrectly sized heater elements.
Designed for use with EATON Type A and Type B thermal overload relays. Confirm motor full-load amperage and relay model against the EATON heater selection table before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with NEC requirements and the relay manufacturer's instructions. De-energize and lock out the motor control panel before removing or inserting heater elements. Select the correct heater element based on motor nameplate full-load amps and service factor; an incorrectly sized element will not provide proper motor protection. Do not bypass or substitute heater elements of a different type or rating.
