The EATON EHD1040 is a molded case circuit breaker designed to provide overcurrent protection in commercial and industrial electrical distribution systems. It uses thermal-magnetic trip technology to detect both sustained overloads and short-circuit faults, opening the circuit automatically to protect downstream wiring and equipment. Licensed electricians install this breaker in panelboards, switchboards, and motor control centers where reliable fault interruption is required. At 40 amps on a single pole, it fits a wide range of branch circuit and feeder applications.
The EHD1040 is suited for commercial and light industrial installations where branch circuit protection is needed for motors, lighting, or general-purpose loads. Its compact molded case construction fits standard EHD-frame panelboard and switchboard applications. The breaker is appropriate where space constraints require a smaller-frame device without sacrificing dependable overcurrent response.

Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize the panelboard or switchboard and verify absence of voltage with a calibrated meter before handling the breaker or its bus connections. Confirm that the enclosure and bus bar system are rated for the EHD frame series before installing. Do not exceed the breaker ampere rating when sizing branch circuit conductors.
