The EATON BP/T-8 is a Fusetron Type T time-delay, dual-element, Edison base plug fuse rated at 8 amps and 125 volts AC. It uses a dual-element design to tolerate the high inrush current that occurs during motor startup, then responds quickly to sustained overloads and short circuits. The 10,000 AIC interrupting rating provides substantial fault-current protection for residential and light commercial circuits. Brass threads ensure reliable contact in standard Edison base fuse receptacles. A large, clear inspection window lets a technician confirm fuse condition without removal. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and pool service professionals specify this fuse for motor-load branch circuits.
The BP/T-8 is suited for circuits that power equipment with frequent motor starts and stops. Typical applications include evaporative coolers, residential and light commercial air conditioners, furnace blower motors, swimming pool and spa pumps, and deep freezers. The time-delay element absorbs normal motor inrush without nuisance opening, making it the correct choice over fast-acting fuses on any motor-driven load. It installs in standard Edison base fuse receptacles found in older residential load centers and dedicated disconnect boxes.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for any standard Edison base fuse receptacle requiring a Type T time-delay plug fuse at 8 amps and 125 volts AC, including those protecting swamp coolers, air conditioners, furnace blowers, swimming pool pumps, and deep freezers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or licensed HVAC technician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements for overcurrent protection. Always shut off power to the circuit at the main panel before removing or installing a fuse. Confirm the replacement ampere rating matches the circuit conductor and load requirements before inserting the fuse. Never substitute a higher-rated fuse in an attempt to stop nuisance opening on a motor circuit.
