The EATON BP/S-6-1/4 is a Bussmann Series S-Type Fustat time-delay, dual-element plug fuse rated at 6-1/4 amps and 125 volts AC with a 10,000 ampere interrupting capacity (AIC). The dual-element design allows the fuse to withstand the high inrush current of motor startups without nuisance opening, while still responding quickly to sustained overloads and short circuits. The rejection base is a tamper-resistant feature that physically prevents substitution with a standard plug fuse of a higher amperage rating. Licensed electricians and HVAC technicians install this fuse in fusible disconnect and panelboard applications requiring S-Type Fustat rejection sockets.
This fuse is intended for circuits that power motor-driven loads, including residential and light commercial air conditioners, furnace blower motors, swimming pool pumps, and deep freezers. It is well suited to any branch circuit where motors cycle on and off frequently, producing repetitive inrush currents that standard single-element fuses cannot tolerate. The industrial-grade construction prevents premature opening during normal motor start sequences while maintaining reliable overcurrent protection throughout the service life of the fuse.
Designed for use in S-Type Fustat rejection-base fusible sockets. The rejection base limits installation to Fustat-style sockets only; this fuse cannot be installed in a standard Edison-base fuse socket.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing a fuse. Confirm the socket type is an S-Type Fustat rejection base before installation. Do not defeat or bypass the rejection base feature.
