The EATON BP/FRN-R-50 is a dual-element, time delay cartridge fuse rated at 50 amps and 250 volts, sold as a 2-pack. It belongs to the Fusetron FRN-R series and carries a UL-listed Class R rating with a 200,000 amp interrupting rating (AIR). The dual-element design allows the initial inrush current of a motor startup to pass without opening, while still providing reliable protection when a sustained, damaging overload is present. Ferrule-end construction is standard for this current range. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This fuse is designed for motor branch-circuit protection in residential, commercial, and light industrial applications. It is well suited for systems where motor overload or single-phasing events pose a risk of winding burnout. The time delay characteristic makes it appropriate for across-the-line motor starters where startup inrush would otherwise nuisance-trip a standard fast-acting fuse. It fits standard Class R fuse holders and rejection-style fusible disconnects rated for ferrule-end fuses in the 50A range.
Designed for use in Class R rejection-style fuse holders and fusible disconnects accepting ferrule-end cartridge fuses rated up to 250 volts. Compatible with standard motor branch-circuit protection applications in the 1/10A to 60A ferrule-end range of the FRN-R series.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the upstream disconnect or breaker before removing or installing fuses. Verify the fuse holder is rated for Class R rejection-style cartridge fuses before installation. Never install a fuse rated above the conductor or equipment ampacity.
