The EATON BP/FRN-R-45 is a dual-element, time-delay cartridge fuse rated at 45 amps and 250 volts, designed for motor protection in demanding electrical installations. As part of the Fusetron FRN-R series, it uses a dual-element construction to distinguish between harmless startup inrush current and damaging overloads. The time-delay feature allows the initial startup surge of typical motors to pass without nuisance opening, while still opening the circuit before burnout when a sustained, dangerous overload is present. This 2-pack is sold as a unit and carries a UL Listed Class R rating with a 200,000 amp interrupting rating (AIR), making it suitable for high-fault-current environments.
This fuse is used in motor branch circuit and feeder applications across residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. It is commonly installed in fusible disconnect switches, motor control panels, and combination starters where motor overload and short-circuit protection are both required. The ferrule-end configuration is standard for the 45A rating, consistent with the FRN-R series range of 1/10A through 60A. Licensed electricians typically specify this fuse for single-phase and three-phase motor circuits where time-delay protection is called out by the NEC or equipment manufacturer.
Designed as a Class R, FRN-R series time-delay cartridge fuse for use in fusible disconnect switches, motor starters, and panelboards that accept Class R or Class H ferrule-type fuse elements rated up to 250 volts.
Installation must be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the disconnect or panel before removing or installing fuses. Verify that the fuseholder is rated for Class R fuses at the appropriate voltage and amperage before installation. Do not substitute a fuse with a higher amperage rating than what the circuit or equipment requires.
