The EATON 681X2 is a brass compression tube connector designed to join a compression-end tube to a male NPT threaded port. The connector features a 1/8-inch tube outside diameter on the compression side and a 1/8-inch MNPT thread on the opposite end. Brass construction provides corrosion resistance and durability in fluid and gas line applications. This fitting is commonly installed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics when connecting small-diameter tubing to threaded fittings on equipment, valves, or manifolds. It meets ASA, ASME, and SAE standards, making it suitable for a wide range of commercial and residential trade applications.
This compression connector is used in residential and commercial systems where small-bore tubing must terminate at a male NPT port. Typical installation scenarios include instrument air lines, refrigerant sensing lines, fuel gas pilot lines, and hydraulic control tubing. The compression-by-MNPT configuration allows a tool-free tube connection on one end while threading directly into a female NPT port on the other, reducing the need for additional adapters at the joint.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for systems using 1/8-inch OD compression tubing terminating at a 1/8-inch female NPT port, consistent with ASA, ASME, and SAE plumbing and instrumentation standards.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or pipe fitter. Shut off the fluid or gas supply and relieve system pressure before making or breaking any fitting connection. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MNPT threads in accordance with the applicable code — IPC or IFGC depending on service. Do not overtighten the compression nut; finger-tight plus the manufacturer-recommended turns is standard practice for compression fittings on soft tubing.
