Shut down system pressure and depressurize all lines before removing or installing any hydraulic fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads in accordance with system requirements and applicable codes. Tighten the NPT end to the port first, then snug the JIC swivel nut against the flared tube seat — do not overtighten the flare seat, as this can damage the sealing surface. Work performed on pressurized fluid systems should conform to relevant industry and facility safety standards.
