The EATON 1480X8X4Z is a brass compression tube elbow designed to connect tubing to a male NPT threaded port at a 90-degree angle. It features a compression-style inlet and a male NPT outlet, allowing a secure, leak-resistant joint without soldering or welding. The brass construction provides good corrosion resistance in both water and light refrigerant or pneumatic service applications. This fitting is a standard component in plumbing, HVAC, and instrumentation systems where a directional change in tubing is required. Plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers of this type of fitting in both residential and light commercial work.
This elbow fitting is suited for use in low-pressure fluid, pneumatic, or refrigerant line applications where a 1/4-inch compression connection meets a 1/4-inch MNPT port. It is commonly installed at equipment connections, control valves, and instrument ports where tubing must transition to a threaded fitting and change direction. The compact brass body makes it practical in tight spaces within equipment cabinets or mechanical rooms.
Designed as an OEM-style compression tube elbow for use in plumbing, HVAC, and instrumentation applications requiring a 1/4-inch compression-to-MNPT transition fitting.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off system pressure and depressurize the line before disassembly or installation. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the tubing, then snug with a wrench — do not overtighten, as this can deform the compression ferrule. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MNPT threads before engaging the mating port.
