The EATON 1424A is a drain cock shutoff valve designed for flow adjustment and system drainage in plumbing and fluid-handling applications. Constructed with a brass body and steel internal seat, this valve provides reliable shutoff and controlled drainage at working pressures up to 150 psi. The 1/8 inch threaded connection makes it suitable for compact installations where space is limited. Plumbers and mechanical contractors install this valve as a drain point on boilers, water lines, compressed air systems, and similar low-flow service lines. Its compact design and straightforward thread-in installation keep service time short.
This drain cock is intended for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, and compressed air distribution lines where a small-diameter drain or bleed point is required. The 1/8 inch NPT thread fits standard threaded pipe fittings and valve bodies. It is commonly installed at low points in piping systems to allow full drainage during seasonal shutdowns, maintenance, or system repairs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation drain cock for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic systems using 1/8 inch NPT threaded connections rated up to 150 psi.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off system pressure and fully drain the line before removing or installing the valve. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before installation and tighten to hand-snug plus a firm wrench turn — do not overtighten brass-bodied fittings. Verify the system returns to rated operating pressure without leaks before returning to service.
