The EASYHEAT NPRO-100 is a self-regulating heat protection cable designed to prevent pipe freeze damage in residential plumbing systems. Running 100 feet in length and operating at 120 volts, this cable outputs 3 watts per foot and automatically adjusts its heat output based on ambient temperature conditions — increasing output as temperatures drop and reducing output as conditions warm. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians install this cable along exposed or vulnerable pipe runs to maintain safe temperatures during cold weather. The self-regulating design eliminates the risk of overheating and reduces energy consumption compared to fixed-wattage heat tape.
This cable is suited for residential applications where water supply lines, drain pipes, or other plumbing runs are exposed to freezing temperatures — including crawl spaces, attics, exterior walls, and unheated utility spaces. It is commonly installed on copper, PVC, and other standard pipe materials. The 100-foot length accommodates longer pipe runs or routing around obstacles without splicing. Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or experienced HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing and electrical codes. The cable should be spiraled or run straight along the pipe per manufacturer instructions and covered with pipe insulation to maximize efficiency. Do not overlap the cable on itself, as concentrated heat buildup can damage the cable jacket.
