The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL SP-3750-16-P-I is a 3/8-16 high-speed steel (HSS) spiral point plug tap designed for threading through-holes in metal workpieces. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, keeping the flutes clear and enabling faster, cleaner threads in production and maintenance applications. Built to plug tap geometry, it is suitable for through-hole threading where the tap can advance without obstruction. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians reach for this tap when cutting 3/8-16 Unified National Coarse (UNC) threads by hand or under power.
This tap is suited for through-hole threading operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals on the shop floor, in fabrication environments, and during field maintenance. The 3/8-16 UNC thread form is one of the most common fastener sizes in general mechanical and structural assembly, making this tap a routine tool in any tapping kit. It is compatible with standard tap wrenches, T-handle wrenches, and machine tapping chucks sized for 3/8-inch shank taps.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock tap for 3/8-16 UNC through-hole threading operations using manual tap wrenches or machine tapping setups.
Secure the workpiece and ensure the correct tap drill size is used for 3/8-16 UNC threads before starting. Apply cutting fluid throughout the operation to extend tool life and improve thread finish. When tapping by hand, back the tap off a quarter turn periodically to break chips. Power tapping should use a tapping-rated spindle or a torque-limiting chuck to avoid tap breakage.
