The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL SC400-032-D is a 1/2-inch cobalt stub-length drill bit ground with a 135-degree split point. The stub-length (screw-machine length) body is shorter and stiffer than a jobber drill, reducing deflection and chatter when drilling into hard or abrasive materials. The 135-degree split point self-centers on contact, eliminating the need for a center punch on most surfaces. This bit is manufactured in the USA and is suited for machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and maintenance technicians working with stainless steel, hard alloys, cast iron, and other tough materials.
The SC400-032-D is used in drill presses, CNC machines, and heavy-duty hand drills where rigidity and hole accuracy matter. Its cobalt construction maintains cutting hardness at elevated temperatures, making it a practical choice for production drilling, on-site fabrication, and field maintenance work where repeated use on hard metals is expected. No pilot hole or center punch is required when the split point is in good condition.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 1/2-inch cobalt stub-length drill bits used in standard drill chucks, drill presses, and CNC machine spindles accepting straight-shank bits.
Install in a properly rated drill chuck rated for the intended RPM and material. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation to prevent slippage and bit damage. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys to extend bit life. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable machine-guarding requirements.
