The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL SB-WB.437 is a 7/16-inch spade drill bit designed for boring through wood. The extended 6-inch length makes it suited for applications where a standard-length bit cannot reach, such as drilling through framing members, thick lumber, or stacked materials. The flat spade-style cutting head shears wood fiber cleanly when used at appropriate drill speeds. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC installers, and general contractors commonly reach for spade bits when running wire, pipe, or ductwork through wood framing.
This bit is intended for use in wood and wood-based materials including dimensional lumber, plywood, and engineered wood products. The 6-inch shaft length is particularly useful in rough-in work where bits must pass through deep framing cavities or multiple studs in close succession. It accepts standard 1/4-inch hex quick-change chucks as well as keyed drill chucks, making it compatible with most corded and cordless drills and right-angle drill attachments common in trade work.
Designed as a standard spade drill bit for use with corded or cordless drills equipped with keyed or quick-change chuck systems capable of accepting a spade bit shank.
Spade bits are installed and used by electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians during rough-in framing work. Ensure all power to electrical circuits in the work area is confirmed off before drilling near wiring. Use appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Drill speed should be kept within the range recommended for the material being bored to prevent overheating the bit or splintering the wood face.
