The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL S404-112-D is a high-speed steel (HSS) stub-length drill bit featuring a 135-degree split point geometry. Stub drills are shorter than standard jobber-length bits, which increases rigidity and reduces deflection when drilling in confined spaces or through harder materials. The 135-degree split point eliminates the need for a center punch on most surfaces, allowing the bit to self-center and begin cutting immediately. This bit is manufactured in the USA and is suited for use by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general trade professionals working with metal, plastics, and similar materials.
The S404-112-D is appropriate for use in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC setups where a rigid, short-length bit is preferred. Stub-length bits are commonly chosen for sheet metal work, close-tolerance drilling near obstructions, and applications where standard-length bits would flex or wander. The 135-degree split point is well suited for drilling stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and other common trade metals without requiring a pilot hole.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for use in any drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle accepting a standard straight-shank stub-length drill bit of this diameter and shank size.
Installation and use of drill bits should be performed by qualified tradespeople following applicable shop safety and tool-operation procedures. Always secure the workpiece before drilling and ensure the chuck is tightened fully before operation. Inspect the bit for wear or chipping before each use and replace bits that show signs of damage. Wear appropriate eye and hand protection per OSHA and shop safety standards.
