The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL S300-016-I is a 1/4-inch cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. Cobalt construction provides increased heat resistance and hardness compared to standard high-speed steel, making this bit well suited for drilling through stainless steel, cast iron, hard alloys, and other tough materials encountered in trade and industrial work. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general tradespeople reach for cobalt jobbers when standard HSS bits wear too quickly or fail on harder substrates.
This bit fits applications where a standard jobber-length drill is required at the common 1/4-inch diameter. Jobber-length bits offer a balanced combination of reach and rigidity, making them appropriate for general-purpose hole drilling in metal, sheet goods, and structural members during mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in work. The 1/4-inch diameter is a frequently used size for anchor holes, conduit knockouts, pipe hangers, and equipment mounting across residential and light commercial jobsites.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use with 3-jaw drill chucks accepting 1/4-inch round shanks, suitable for benchtop drill presses and portable hand drills commonly used in trade applications.
Secure the bit firmly in the chuck before use and verify the chuck key is removed prior to powering the drill. Use cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling through hard metals to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Reduce feed pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid grab or breakage. Worn or overheated cobalt bits should be replaced rather than reused on critical structural holes.
