The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL MT-240-200-B-I is an M24.0x2.00 high-speed steel (HSS) metric bottom tap designed to cut full threads to the bottom of a blind hole. With a 24 mm major diameter and 2.00 mm pitch, this tap produces metric internal threads in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bottom-style geometry features minimal lead chamfer, allowing the tap to thread closer to the bottom of a blind bore than taper or plug taps. It is a standard tool for machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working on metric-threaded assemblies.
This tap is suited for threading operations in manufacturing, fabrication, and field repair environments where M24x2.00 metric threads are required. Typical applications include threading holes in structural steel, aluminum plate, and cast iron components. It is used in both manual hand-tapping setups and low-speed machine tapping operations where a bottom tap is required to complete a blind hole after a taper or plug tap has started the thread.
Designed as a standard M24.0x2.00 metric bottom tap suitable for use with compatible tap wrenches, T-handles, and machine tapping heads sized for large-diameter hand taps.
Bottom taps should be used as the final step in a blind-hole tapping sequence, after a taper or plug tap has already established the thread. Secure the workpiece firmly and apply appropriate cutting fluid before beginning the tapping operation to reduce heat and extend tool life. Use a calibrated torque wrench or controlled-speed tapping arm to avoid overloading and breaking the tap in the hole. Follow applicable shop safety practices and manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds when machine tapping.
