The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL MT-080-100-B-I is an M8.0 x 1.00 high-speed steel (HSS) metric bottom tap designed for cutting internal threads to the full depth of a blind hole. The bottom chamfer allows threading closer to the base of the hole than plug or taper taps, making it the right choice when thread engagement must begin within the last few threads of a bore. Weighing 0.09 pounds, this is a compact, single-tool solution for metric threading in steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar materials. It is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with M8 x 1.00 metric fastener applications.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance threading operations where a standard M8 coarse-pitch thread is required in blind holes. Common applications include fabrication shops, HVAC equipment assembly, plumbing fixture manufacturing, electrical enclosure work, and general mechanical maintenance. The bottom style is especially useful when a mating bolt or stud must seat fully into a blind hole with minimal thread run-out at the bottom. It is imported and sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed as a standard M8.0 x 1.00 metric bottom tap suitable for use with compatible tap wrenches, T-handle tap holders, and machine tap holders accepting this tap body diameter and shank size.
Bottom taps should be used as a finishing tap after a plug or taper tap has already started the thread, or with care when threading from scratch in a through-drilled blind hole. Secure the workpiece fully before tapping and use a calibrated tap drill size appropriate for M8 x 1.00 threads to ensure proper thread depth and fit. Apply cutting fluid or tapping compound throughout the operation to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Back the tap out periodically to clear chips and avoid tap breakage, especially in deeper blind holes.
