The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL MT-070-100-B-I is an M7.0x1.00 high-speed steel (HSS) bottom tap designed to cut full threads to the bottom of a blind hole. With a 7 mm nominal diameter and 1.00 mm pitch, it produces metric internal threads in steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar machinable materials. Bottom taps have minimal lead threads, allowing them to thread closer to the base of a blind bore than taper or plug taps can reach. This tool is used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and field service professionals when a complete thread depth is required in a stopped hole.
This tap is suited for general-purpose threading operations in both production and repair environments. It is appropriate for use in manual hand-tapping setups as well as light machine tapping where the operator controls feed and engagement. Common applications include threading blind holes in brackets, housings, fixtures, and mechanical components where M7.0x1.00 threads are specified. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed as a standard metric bottom tap for use in any application requiring M7.0x1.00 internal threads in machinable metals and plastics.
Secure the workpiece before tapping and use a properly sized tap wrench or tapping fixture to maintain axial alignment. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Back the tap out periodically to break chips, especially in deep blind holes. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and ensure the tap is fully engaged before applying torque to avoid tap breakage.
