The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-8750-9-T-D is a 7/8-9 high-speed steel (HSS) hand taper tap manufactured in the USA. Taper taps feature a gradual thread lead that makes them well suited for starting threads in through holes or blind holes with adequate depth. The taper chamfer distributes cutting load across multiple teeth, reducing torque requirements and the risk of tap breakage. This tap is sized for 7/8-inch diameter, 9 threads per inch (TPI), Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread form. It is a standard tool for machinists, pipefitters, maintenance technicians, and fabrication shops working in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
The HT-8750-9-T-D is used in manual tapping operations where a tap wrench or T-handle is used to cut internal threads by hand. Typical applications include threading holes in structural steel, equipment frames, machinery components, and repair work where power tapping is not practical. The 7/8-9 UNC thread size is common in heavy industrial and structural applications. This tap is appropriate for both production and field service environments.
Designed as a standard hand taper tap for use in any application requiring 7/8-9 UNC internal threads. Compatible with standard tap wrenches and T-handle drivers sized for the tap square shank.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should perform tapping operations. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before beginning. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce friction and extend tap life. Advance the tap in short increments and periodically reverse direction to break chips and prevent binding.
