The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-7500-16-P-I is a 3/4-16 high-speed steel (HSS) hand plug tap designed for cutting internal threads in metal workpieces. The plug chamfer — typically 3 to 5 threads of lead — allows this tap to start easily in through-holes and blind holes alike, making it one of the most versatile thread-cutting configurations in general shop use. At 0.31 pounds, it is a lightweight hand tool intended for use with a tap wrench or tap handle. Machinists, pipefitters, millwrights, and maintenance technicians reach for this tap when threading fastener holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance applications where a 3/4-16 UNF (Unified Fine) internal thread is required. The fine-pitch 16 threads-per-inch profile is common in precision assemblies, hydraulic fittings, and mechanical components where finer thread engagement and greater resistance to loosening under vibration are needed. It is appropriate for both job-shop and field maintenance use wherever manual hand-tapping is the preferred or required method.
Designed as a standard hand plug tap for use in any application requiring a 3/4-16 UNF internal thread, compatible with standard 3/4-inch tap wrenches and T-handle tap holders.
This tap is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a tap wrench or T-handle holder. Always secure the workpiece firmly before tapping, and use an appropriate cutting fluid to reduce heat and extend tool life. Back the tap off periodically to break chips and prevent binding, especially in blind-hole applications. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use — a damaged tap can seize in the workpiece.
