The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-7500-16-P-D is a 3/4-16 high-speed steel (HSS) hand plug tap manufactured in the USA. This tap is designed to cut internal threads by hand in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The plug chamfer — typically 3 to 5 threads — allows the tap to start easily in through-holes and blind holes where thread engagement depth is not critical. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians reach for this tap when threading steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials in both shop and field environments.
This tap is suited for general-purpose hand threading operations in manufacturing, maintenance, and repair applications. The 3/4-16 designation indicates a 3/4-inch major diameter with a 16 threads-per-inch (TPI) pitch, a fine-thread series commonly used in fastener and mechanical assembly work where greater thread engagement strength is required compared to coarse-thread equivalents.
Designed as a standard 3/4-16 UNF hand plug tap suitable for use with compatible tap wrenches and T-handle drivers sized for 3/4-inch shank taps.
Hand taps should be installed by a qualified machinist or tradesperson using a proper tap wrench sized for the shank. Always secure the workpiece firmly before tapping, use cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material, and back the tap off a half turn periodically to break the chip and prevent binding. Never force a tap that has stopped turning — back it out, clear chips, and re-enter to avoid breakage.
