The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-7500-16-B-I is a 3/4-16 high-speed steel (HSS) hand bottom tap designed for cutting full threads to the bottom of blind holes. It carries a 3/4-inch nominal diameter with 16 threads per inch (TPI) in a unified national fine (UNF) thread form. This tap is ground for use with standard hand tap wrenches and T-handle drivers. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians use it when through-hole tapping is not possible and maximum thread engagement depth is required. The HSS construction provides adequate hardness and wear resistance for threading steel, iron, aluminum, and similar materials in general shop and field applications.
This bottom tap is suited for production and maintenance environments where blind-hole threads must be cut to near full depth. Typical applications include threading bolt holes in flanges, brackets, housings, and structural components. It is the finishing tap in a three-tap sequence — following a taper and plug tap — or used alone when the hole has been pre-threaded to within a few threads of the bottom. The 3/4-16 UNF thread specification is common in automotive, mechanical, and industrial assembly work.
Designed as a standard hand bottom tap for use in any application requiring 3/4-16 UNF threads in blind holes.
This tap is installed by hand using a tap wrench or T-handle; power driving is not recommended for hand taps. Always ensure the hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for 3/4-16 UNF before starting. Apply cutting fluid throughout the tapping process and back off periodically to break chips and prevent binding. Follow applicable shop safety practices and ANSI standards for hand tapping operations.
