The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-7500-16-B-D is a 3/4-16 high-speed steel (HSS) hand bottom tap manufactured in the USA. Bottom taps are ground with minimal chamfer on the leading threads, allowing the tap to cut threads as close to the bottom of a blind hole as possible. This tap is driven by hand using a tap wrench and is suited for threading operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and other machinable materials. Machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians reach for bottom taps when a through tap or plug tap cannot complete the thread depth required by the job.
The HT-7500-16-B-D is used in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and on maintenance and repair work where a 3/4 inch-16 unified fine (UNF) thread form is required. The 3/4-16 designation indicates a 3/4 inch nominal diameter with 16 threads per inch, a standard UNF specification common in automotive, aerospace, and precision mechanical assemblies. This tap follows a plug or bottoming sequence in a blind hole to achieve full thread depth close to the floor of the bore.
Designed as a standard 3/4-16 UNF hand bottom tap for use wherever a 3/4 inch-16 unified fine thread is specified. Suitable for use with standard tap wrenches sized for 3/4 inch shank taps.
Hand tapping should be performed by a qualified machinist or trained technician using a properly sized tap wrench. Secure the workpiece firmly before beginning and apply cutting fluid appropriate for the base material to reduce friction and extend tap life. Reverse the tap periodically during threading to break chips and prevent tap breakage, especially in blind holes. Never force a tap — if resistance increases unexpectedly, back out and clear chips before continuing.
