The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-632-P-I is a 6-32 hand plug tap manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS). It is designed to cut internal threads by hand in ferrous and non-ferrous materials at the 6-32 Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread specification. The plug chamfer style — typically 3 to 5 threads of lead — allows the tap to start easily in through-holes and blind holes alike. Machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general maintenance technicians reach for this tap when threading small fastener holes in metal brackets, enclosures, panels, and equipment frames.
This tap is suited for light-duty threading operations performed with a standard tap wrench or T-handle. The 6-32 thread size is common in electrical enclosures, switchgear panels, electronic assemblies, and HVAC equipment chassis where small machine screws are used for covers, grounding lugs, and component mounting. It performs well in mild steel, aluminum, brass, and plastics. It is intended for manual hand-tapping rather than machine or CNC use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard hand tap for use in any application requiring 6-32 UNC internal threads cut by hand.
This tap is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a tap wrench with appropriate cutting fluid applied to reduce friction and extend tap life. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the tap is started perpendicular to the surface to prevent cross-threading or breakage. Back off the tap periodically to break chips, especially in blind holes. Never apply excessive torque — HSS taps at small diameters are brittle and will snap under side loading or overforce.
