The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-5625-12-B-D is a 9/16-12 high-speed steel (HSS) hand bottom tap manufactured in the USA. Bottom taps are ground with minimal chamfer on the lead threads, allowing them to cut threads to the very bottom of a blind hole where plug or taper taps cannot reach. This tap is hand-driven and suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and other machinable materials. At 0.32 pounds, it is a lightweight, single-piece tool designed for precise, controlled threading operations in maintenance, fabrication, and repair environments.
This tap is used wherever a 9/16-12 UNC thread must be cut to the full depth of a blind hole. Typical applications include machine repair, structural fabrication, toolroom work, and general metalworking. A bottom tap is normally the final tap used in a three-tap sequence after a taper and plug tap have established the thread form, though it can be used alone in through-holes or when re-chasing existing threads. It is appropriate for both bench vise work and hand-tapping setups on installed assemblies.
Designed as a standard hand bottom tap for any application requiring a 9/16-12 UNC thread. Compatible with standard tap wrenches and T-handle drivers sized for the tap square shank.
This tap is intended for hand use with a properly sized tap wrench. Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and ensure the starting hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for a 9/16-12 thread. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to reduce friction and extend tap life. Back off a half turn periodically to break chips and prevent binding, especially in deep blind holes.
