The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-3125-24-B-I is a 5/16-24 UNF high-speed steel hand bottom tap designed for cutting internal threads in through-holes and blind holes where threads must extend close to the bottom. The bottom chamfer geometry allows thread cutting to within 1-2 threads of a blind hole floor. Weighing 0.31 pounds, this is a hand-driven tap intended for use in a tap wrench or T-handle driver. It is suited for threading ferrous metals, aluminum, brass, and plastics in standard maintenance, repair, and fabrication work.
This tap is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and field service environments where 5/16-24 UNF internal threads are required. The bottom style is chosen when a plug or taper tap has already started the thread and a technician needs to carry threads to the bottom of a blind hole. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general tradespeople keep bottom taps on hand for field repairs and equipment reassembly tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style hand bottom tap for use wherever 5/16-24 UNF internal threads are required in standard threading applications.
This tap is installed by hand using a tap wrench or T-handle driver — do not use in a power driver or drill press without proper speed control and tap-holding equipment. Always apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread quality. Back the tap off a half-turn for every full turn to break chips, particularly in blind holes. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use, as a damaged tap can seize and break in the workpiece.
